Folding@home is a distributed computing project for simulating protein dynamics, including the process of protein folding and the movements of proteins implicated in a variety of diseases. Companies and individuals alike can contribute to the Folding@home project.
At Aabyss we volunteer the spare capacity of our growing infrastructure to run simulations of protein dynamics. Insights from this data are helping scientists to better understand biology, and providing new opportunities for developing therapeutics.
At Aabyss we have partnered with Ecologi for offsetting our entire company carbon footprint and also including emissions from staff homes, personal travel, holidays, food, hobbies and more. The Ecologi initiatives fund carbon reduction projects both at home in the UK and around the world.
Our current target is to fund the planting of 2500 trees per year. The net result of this will remove approximately 240 tonnes of carbon dioxide from our atmosphere each year. As our team grows then so will our contribution to this important ecological solution.
